In this lesson, first graders will explore the differences between landmasses and bodies of water using maps and globes. They will learn to identify land and water by their colors and shapes on these tools. By examining a globe, students will observe that blue areas represent water, while green and brown areas represent land. Using maps, they’ll see that bodies of water, like lakes and rivers, often appear as blue shapes and lines, while landmasses like continents and islands are shown in green or brown.
